This Privacy Policy describes how Coderholics Ltd ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and safeguards information when you use the Bible Now mobile application ("the App").
By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the App.
02 — Information We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide the App's features:
- Account information — if you create an account, we collect your email address and a securely hashed password via Firebase Authentication.
- Prayer requests — any prayer requests you choose to submit are stored in our Firebase Firestore database. These may be visible to other users of the App depending on your sharing settings.
- Reading preferences — your selected Bible translation, bookmarks, highlights, and notes are stored locally on your device and, if you are signed in, synced to your account in Firestore.
- Device information — Firebase may collect basic device and usage diagnostics to maintain service reliability. See Google's privacy policy for details.
03 — How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain your account and personalised reading experience
- To display and manage prayer requests within the community
- To send you reminders and notifications you have opted into
- To improve the App based on usage patterns
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the App.
04 — Permissions
The App requests the following device permissions:
- Notifications — to send daily reading reminders and alerts you have set up. You can disable these at any time in your device settings.
- Boot completed — to reschedule your reading reminders after your device restarts.
- Exact alarm scheduling — to deliver your reminders at the precise time you have chosen.
No access is requested to your camera, microphone, contacts, location, or any other sensitive device feature.
05 — Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services operated by Google:
- Firebase Authentication — manages user sign-in and account security.
- Cloud Firestore — stores prayer requests and synced user data.
These services are governed by Google's Privacy Policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy. We do not use any advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs.
06 — Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using Firebase's infrastructure, which is hosted on Google Cloud. We apply industry-standard access controls and Firebase Security Rules to ensure only authorised users can access their own data.
Locally stored data (bookmarks, notes, offline translations) resides on your device and is removed when you uninstall the App.
07 — Data Retention & Deletion
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you wish to delete your account and all associated data, please contact us at support@coderholics.co.uk and we will process your request within 30 days.
08 — Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
09 — Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at support@coderholics.co.uk.
10 — Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
